Madayipara Madayipara is a flat topped hillock located in the Madayi, of Kannur district of Kerala state in the Southern India.

It is overlooking Payangadi town on the northern bank of Kuppam river. It is popular being the site of the Madayi Kavu (Thiruvar Kadu Bhagavathi Temple) of Goddess Kali, Shakthi, the Vadukunnu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Shiva temple of Madayipara was razed by followers of Tippu Sultan in the 18th century. However, now it has been rebuilt. Madayipara is a significant spot owing to its bio-diversity as well as history. In the past, Madayipara was the administrative center of the Ezhimala kings.

Bekal Fort

Bekal FortBekal Fort is the largest fort in Kerala, situated at Kasaragod district, North Kerala. spreading over 40 acres.

Some important features of this fort are the water-tank with its flight of steps, the tunnel opening towards the south, the magazine for keeping ammunition and the broad steps leading to the Observation Tower, which is a rarity. From there one has an ample view of towns in the vicinity like Kanhangad, Pallikkara, Bekal, Kottikkulam, Uduma etc. The nearest railway stations are Pallikare, Kotikulam, Kanhangad,and Kasargod. This observation center had strategic significance in discovering even the smallest movements of the enemy and ensuring the safety of the Fort.the hilltop which can be reached after a 45 min walk from the Paithal valley. Trekking starts through the dense forest followed by the plain grass land on the hill top.

Parassinikadavu Muthappan Temple

Parassinikadavu Muthappan Madappura (Temple)Sri Muthappan Temple stands on the banks of the Valapattanam river. This pilgrim centre is famous for the Muthappan Theyyam performed
every morning and evening. We provides pleasure boating on the river near the temple and houseboat cruises at the Parassini River. Accommodation is available nearby.
The snake park here is the only one of its kind in this State and perhaps the whole of India. Snake demonstrations conducted every hour draw large crowds of visitors
(open 0830-1730 hrs everyday). There are frequent bus services from Kannur to Parassinikadavu

Paithalmala (Vaithalmala)

Paithalmala (Vaithalmala)Paithalmala or Vaithalmala is a hill station in the Kannur district of Kerala in India. Located near Kappimala village, at a height of 1371.6 m above sea level,
this is the highest geographic peak in Kannur. It is located 65 km from Kannur. Nestled in the Kerala Karnataka border near to Kodagu forests, it lies in the Western Ghats.
It has become a favourite spot for the nature enthusiasts, photographers, trekkers and leisurely visitors.There is an observatory tower made by the department of tourism.

Valiyaparamba Backwater

About 7 kms away from Burak Inn lay the Valiyaparmba Backwaters which is one of the most scenic backwaters in Kerala. It includes kunnuveedu beach and padanna beach. There are about 90 varieties of bird species identified from this place. Given life by four major rivers, the Valiyaparamba Backwaters pull a fairly large number of tourists every year. The backwater is also dotted with numerous islands. It also offers enticing boat cruises. Valiyaparamba hinterland is separated from mainland and is one of the important fishing centres of Kerala.

Rajarajeshwara Temple

The Rajarajeswara temple is a Shiva temple located in Taliparamba in Kannur district of Kerala, India. The temple is regarded as one of the existing 108 ancient Shiva Temples of ancient Kerala. It also has a prominent place amongst the numerous Shiva temples in South India. It had the tallest shikhara amongst the temples of its time.

The Rajarajeshwara temple has a top of about 90 tonnes. If any problem is encountered in the other temples of South India, devotees seek a solution in this temple through a prasnam, a traditional method of astrological decision making. The prasnam is conducted on a peedha outside the temple.

Kavvayi Backwater

The Kavvayi Backwater, located near Payyannur, is the third largest backwaters in Kerala and the largest one in north Kerala. Locally called as Kavvayi Kayal or the backwaters of Kavvayi, this lesser known lake of northern Kerala. Kavvayi backwaters is named after the Kavvayi island close to Payyannur, Kavvayi used to be an inland port and a major administrative center during the past centuries and during British East India Company rule.From an ecological point of view the backwater of Kavvayi and its surrounding region is considered to be of significance.

The Kavvayi backwater is the biggest wetland ecosystem in north Kerala with an area of 37 km2. The backwater and the wetlands are home to a variety of fauna and flora. it is used for watership man training by Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala.
